I’ve had the pleasure of working on several events with Thomas Sullivan and Bar13 over the years, so we jumped at the chance to launch his new bar 116. After some research, he and his partners had uncovered the bar’s history as the Gaslight Café – the legendary Village venue that launched the beat poet and 60s folk movement, including the careers of Bob Dylan, Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Wavy Gravy, Bill Cosby, Bonnie Raitt, and many more. In order to honor the history while bringing the scene into the present, we worked to build a packed schedule of poetry readings, acoustic sets, and standup comedy, interspersed with strategic private events with the downtown creative scene to build the buzz and put the underground lounge on the map. Pressler Collaborative organized the launch party, media outreach, and social media, as well as creating special events in partnership with Thrillist, Absolut, Bob Dylan New York/Roaring Forties Press, Bevin Branlandingham, Josh Beckerman, Kyle Jarrow & Lauren Worsham, Opera Singers’ Initiative, Publishers Publicists Association, Momentum Theatre Company, VYou, Rogan, and more.
